Metromed International Cardiac Centre
Metromed International Cardiac Centre (MICC) is an exclusive cardiac hospital in Kerala, India with a dedicated expert cardiac wing. The hospital operates with a vision to provide services that cross the boundaries of nation, belief, and culture and become a globally preferred provider of heart care.
It has a 200-bed cardiac state of the art facility with 50 critical care units. It holds its OTs designed with international standard HEPA filters and laminar flow system. Two modern Cath labs perform all cardiac interventions in adults and children including newborns.
The team here is dedicated to provide outstanding quality services in heart care at an affordable cost and reach out to all segments of the society, upholding the medical ethics.

Major Specialities

Adult Cardiology
This department offers complete cardiac care unit for adults from early disease detection to complex interventions. The diagnostic services include ECG, stress testing, 2-dimensional echocardiography, stress echocardiography, Holter testing, Ambulatory Blood pressure monitoring, Pulmonary Function test, and angiography.
Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory here holds IVUS, FFR, AND ROTABLATER for carrying out coronary interventions like coronary angiographies, angioplasties, pacemaker implantation and technically challenging complex cardiac interventions.

Electrophysiology
Disorders of heart’s electrical system (arrhythmia) are dealt at the department of electrophysiology. Improper treatment or untreated arrhythmia can lead to fainting, shortness of breath, and even death.
At MICC, Electrophysiology department holds a 3D electro anatomic mapping facility that caters to all rhythm disturbances. An easy, minimally invasive procedure of radiofrequency ablation is done here under local anaesthesia which requires only one or two days of hospital stay. This evolving simple technology cures troublesome arrhythmias and the patient can be off medications life-long after this treatment.

Cardiac Surgery
This department performs nearly hundred percent of its Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) surgeries on beating heart OPCAB (Off Pump Coronary Artery Bypass). Thus the risk of postoperative morbidity has been reduced significantly and helps to track the patients quickly after cardiac surgery.
The major surgery offerings here are Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery (CABG), Redo Coronary Artery bypass surgery, Off pump beating heart surgery, Valve replacement and Ventricular septal rupture repair, Aortic surgery, Bentall’s operation, Correction of congenital heart diseases, High risk cardiac surgery, Carotid Endarterectomy, Vascular surgery, Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, Lobectomy and pneumonectomy and Video mediastinoscopy.

Preventive Cardiology
At MICC, the preventive cardiology program helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases. Clinical, research and educational programs, each of which is focused on reducing death and disability from the heart and vascular disease are carried out in this department.
Heart disease left unattended properly can end up being ‘cardiac cripples’. The good news is that heart disease is a largely preventable disease, and if appropriate lifestyle measures and medication are undertaken early enough, you may never need to undergo a cardiac interventional procedure.

General medicine and Diabetology
