UAE Nationals traveling to India can get their visa on arrival! The Government of India, with effect from Nov 16, 2019 has extended the visa on arrival facilities to UAE nationals too. Previously it was available only to Japan and South Korea citizens. The Embassy of India, Abudhabi hopes that the new initiative will further strengthen the trade links as well as strategic ties between both the countries.

However, there are two important catches to note.

  1. Visa on Arrival facility is available to only those UAE citizens who have obtained an Indian visa either as E-Visa or paper visa before. But it doesn’t matter whether they actually visited India or not. Those who are traveling to India for the first time are advised to obtain the visa through E-Visa or Paper Visa.
  2. Visa on Arrival facility is available only at 6 designated Indian airports namely Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. If you are traveling to any other destinations, it is better to obtain E-Visa or Paper Visa. Or else you need to board the flight to these airports and then catch a domestic flight to your destination.
